Sprouted Millet Upma Made with Dehydrated Sprouts Super Millet Mix

This Sprouted Millet Upma is a nutritious twist on the classic South Indian breakfast dish, made using Nihkan’s Dehydrated Sprouts Super Millet Mix. Packed with plant-based protein, fiber, and essential minerals, this quick and wholesome meal is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even a light dinner. Its mildly spiced and fluffy texture makes it a hit with both kids and adults.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Nihkan’s Dehydrated Sprouts Super Millet Mix

  • 1½ cups water

  • 1 tbsp oil or ghee

  • ½ tsp mustard seeds

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 green chili, chopped

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 5–6 curry leaves

  • 1 small carrot, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp green peas (optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

  • Lemon juice (optional)

Directions:

  1. Dry roast the dehydrated millet mix in a pan for 2–3 minutes on low heat. Set aside.

  2. In another pan, heat oil or ghee. Add mustard seeds and cumin; let them splutter.

  3. Add green chili, ginger, curry leaves, and onion. Sauté until translucent.

  4. Add carrots and peas. Cook for a minute.

  5. Add 1½ cups of water and bring to a boil. Add salt.

  6. Slowly add the roasted millet mix, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

  7. Cover and cook on low heat for 6–8 minutes or until water is absorbed.

  8. Garnish with coriander and lemon juice. Serve hot.
